Casting Call Etiquette
Sunday July 28, 2013
Dear diary,
This week I want to talk about casting call etiquette. I have noticed a few of the same models who come to casting calls unprepared. I don't know if they think that just because it's a local show or because they know the people putting the show on they think can come with out the proper materials and they're a shoe in. What I see at these casting calls is unacceptable. Casting calls need to be treated like a job interview because.....they are. You want the job as the model to walk in the fashion show or represent a product, so treat it as such. Here are a few rules to follow when preparing and going to a casting call.
1. Wear proper casting call attire; Solid tee or tank, fitted jeans, ladies bring heel 3" minimum and fellas bring hard bottoms
2. Little to no make or Natural looking make up; light liner to enhance your eyes, fill in or shape your brow, light gloss
3. COMP CARD, BUSINESS CARD, PORTFOLIO OR HEAD SHOT; this is so important. If you attend a casting call with out one of these chances are you won't get a call back because you have no contact info. How are people supposed to remember you. A comp card is a composite of 3-5 of your best photos. They usually include a head shot, full body, 3/4 shot, glamour shot and a fun shot. It also have your contact info, measurements/stats on a 5x7 card.
4. No food or drink except water
5. No kids
6. Be on time and attentive; If there is a time frame set for the casting call its not in you best interest to come 10-15 before its over. There may have been some instructions or important information that you missed, or even registration.
7. Hair should be pulled back or away from the face; We want to see you
8. Relax, give your all and strut your stuff; We want to what you've got so be confident.
