The Diary of a broke fashionista “The art of bargain shopping”

Dear Diary,

This month has been such a great month to save. Bargain shopping has helped me save so much that I am able to give $20-40 extra on bills. A few tips for being thrifty are to check sales ads, clip coupons, sign up for email alerts for any upcoming events, sales and new items. Coupons are the easiest way to save. Its instant savings.  Another important tip, especially for local and smaller businesses would be to build relationships with owners, they usually give discounts to frequent/returning customers.

I like to shop at second hand shops, thrift stores, boutiques and my favorite, warehouses. Designer warehouses have sample sales and some of my favorite items marked up to 70% below retail price. I also use different apps to shop for name brands that are new or gently used. Apps like Tradeup, Merci and Poshmark allow you to buy, sell and trade with other savvy shoppers looking for a good deal.  Retailmenot.com is another great site for discount codes and coupons to just about anywhere you can think of that can be used online or in store.

There's a difference between being cheap and being thrifty. Being cheap is just buying what's on sale, even when it's not worth the materials its made of. Thrifty is about getting more bang for your buck. I bargain shop on everything; clothes, makeup, bills, vacations and even groceries. My motto is 'the more you save, the more you can buy'
