Styled to Rock Week 1: Grammy Museum

Designer competition hosted by Rihanna

Once a show to be pitched on the Style Network, its now on the Oxygen channel. The show is like Fashion Star and Project Runway. 12 designers are picked to compete in challenges weekly to design and style for the world's hottest musicians. The prize includes a fashion feature in Glamour magazine, a chance to work on Rihanna's design team and $100,000. There is a contestant named Laura she owns her own latex clothing company. Shes awesome. There is a contestant who's signature is working with the construction of zippers.

 When the contestants get to the loft they realize there are no separate rooms or privacy. The work space is everything a designer could dream of. Week 1 introduces the mentors Pharrell Williams,  model Erin Watson, Mel Ottengerg who is Rihanna's personal stylist. The first challenge is to create a piece inspired by their own personal muse. The winning look will be seen at the Grammy museum in downtown LA. They get about 48 hrs to complete the look before judging.

Dexter's muse is who I would have also picked PRINCE of course. I would have picked Prince as well or Che, Christie chose Cher, it was very disappointing.  I was unsure about the group split. They came and did a walk through and call a handful of names for " the pool", the remaining looks go up for elimination and showcase their looks individually. They have 2 hrs for last looks which is any final touches and make up and fittings. The Nicki Minaj inspired piece  from Ahni was poppin, Dexter's outfit did not impress me.  Jordan is a guy who is laid back and he's from Arizona. his Janet inspired piece was hot!!! The winning look that "Rocked it" was Ahni's piece hands down. I could see Nicki Minaj wearing that piece.
